Montcalm Secondary School
2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on increasing student and family engagement.
We are doing this because student engagement is closely tied to academic success, attendance, and overall well-being, which contributes to a positive school environment.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Host regular student voice meetings that include diverse student groups.
- Include reminders to sign up for the parent portal in every newsletter and offer training and support during school events.
- Ensure that every new Montcalm student is connected to a trusted, caring adult in the school, helping to establish the essential foundation for effective learning.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child about what they are doing in each of their classes. Ask specific questions like “What was the most interesting thing you learned today?” or “What subject did you enjoy the most today, and why?”
- Try to encourage your child to ‘park their device’ at night to support better sleep- an essential part of learning and overall well-being.
- Check out this resource TVDSBS Mental Health and Well Being about student and family mental health and well being.
